“Hockney defines looking as a « positive act » For him, actual looking was a skill and a conscious decision, that people rarely practiced : there was « a lot to see » only if you were willing and able to see it.” Jenny Odell
Sometimes I find myself photographing things that only interest me because the light reflects on them in a certain way, or because their texture is appealing to me. To me, a material that reveal itself, is as valuable as a view on a snowy mountain. I’ve always had this weird attraction for tiny details that people don’t even notice. Things that are right under our nose can be so beautiful, all we have to do is stop a minute and observe.
